Russia has signed memorandums of cooperation in exploration with Saudi Arabia and Sierra Leone

The Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation announced the signing of memoranda with Saudi Arabia and Sierra Leone aimed at developing cooperation in the field of subsoil use.

Saudi Arabia: The signed memorandum will lay the foundation for joint exploration projects, as well as cooperation in the field of exploration and development of mineral resources and groundwater. Alexander Kozlov, Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, noted that the countries have significant potential for mutually beneficial partnership, including the exchange of experience in such areas as biodiversity and water resources management. Saudi Arabia is also considering joining the Framework Declaration on the Conservation of the Gyrfalcon Population.

Sierra Leone: The Memorandum provides for geological and geophysical research, field assessment and geological mapping. A working group to be established under the agreement will identify specific projects. Sierra Leone hopes to attract Russian investments, including from ALROSA, as Western sanctions ease.
